The Head

Jesus Christ

And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. Colossians 1:18

Mark, along with his wife Lori, planted h2 after seeing a great disconnect between the church and the lost. They have 7 children, and more god kids than they can count. Mark’s parents, and a woman named Eleanor Parish, were major inspirations in the development of his spiritual life. Mark confesses that he had very little idea of the life changing adventure that planting h2 would create. He was raised in the Plymouth Brethren, where the Word of God was taught with great depth. To this day, he thanks God for the spiritual discipleship he received there. He loves wearing his jeans every Sunday and he loves when people say that he doesn’t act like a “Pastor”. Mark has no manmade Bible degrees to boast of, but when he opens the Word of God, you had better be wearing your spiritual seatbelts! His messages reach to the soul of each hearer. Lastly, he is all about empowering the common saint to be what God says they are.

Acts 4:13

Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished. And they recognized that they had been with Jesus.

Deacon

Mike Tobin

Mike and his wife Gayle have been partners with Higher Hope for over 2 years. Mike and Gayle have been happily married for over 30 years. They have three grown children: Lydia, Hannah, and Josiah, plus the added bonus of son-in-law John Jackson, husband of Lydia. Mike had a “religious” upbringing, but discovered that his “righteous acts were like filthy rags” (Isaiah 64:6). This realization brought about a turning point in Mike’s life. Today, Mike is grateful for the gift of salvation, “not as a result of works, so no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:8,9). Mike and his wife look forward to serving God through h2’s ministries including the Action Team and Men of Hope.

Deacon

John Fatchaline

John has been attending church for decades, but always felt he was just “playing the role” of churchgoer. When h2 opened their doors for John, John’s pretender attitude transformed. The ministry of h2 influenced him to “be the church”. h2’s study of James was especially encouraging to him: “Not only be listeners of the word, but doers of the word” (James 1:22-25). John knows he is not a perfect person, but he serves a perfect God. John enjoys spending time with his wife Judy and their five children. He is a mechanical tinker by nature, taking care of classic cars and motorcycles in his free time. John strives to serve his local community, a reflection of his conviction in the gospel. Although the needs in the community are great, John knows that h2, with the help of God’s blessings, will continue to positively impact the community with the word of the gospel.
